Jazz alto saxofonist John Handy (°1933 – ) played in the mid ’50 en ’60 with Charles Mingus together with Eric Dolphy. He can also be heard on Mingus’ most important albums of that period. Handy made his last recording in ’96.
Handy was also a teacher in music history and performance at the San Francisco State University, Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley.
